Information compiled and presented to Board at meeting on 8/14 is below. You can access the full images by clicking, and from there, you can scroll through all four. Thank you to the 20+ local Sycamore residents who came out to support us!
A few findings:
-Sycamore is paying its Supervisor 3x the for the same job as in Cortland, despite having only 32% more citizens (14,425 vs. 10,968). That's nearly $63,000 more in wages and benefits, with taxpayers footing the bill.
-Sycamore is paying its Assessors 2x for the same job in Cortland, despite having only 15% more parcels (5,820 vs. 5,080). That's nearly $58,000 more in wages and benefits, with taxpayers footing the bill.
-Township employees may cover their families on any healthcare plan (PPO, HMO, etc.). They are asked to foot $0 of the cost. Their family healthcare is funded entirely by taxpayers. We are paying $26,000 annually for one employee alone.
-In true government fashion, salaries have already been voted in and can't be modified until 180 days before the next election - May of 2020. Our ask is for contracts more aligned with the surrounding communities next time.
We will continue to report on the efficiency of neighboring townships as we hear back from all 19 of them. As the numbers roll in from neighboring townships, we will continue to update. Audio from the meeting to follow.
